Cotton Council International (CCI) is delighted to announce Priyanka Grover as the winner of season 2 of Let’s Design. Hosted by Miss India Earth – Shriya Kishore – and actor-performer Ash Chandler, the ceremony was attended by the members from every segment of the fashion industry from designers, to models, fashion editors, and stylists.
CCI’s “Let’s Design” brings to life the world of fashion in cotton. Contestants discover the richness and versatility of cotton through a series of challenges designed to showcase cotton as a fibre for all seasons and all occasions. The platform recognises individuals who promote the use of cotton and embody the spirit of innovation, versatility and creativity while working with cotton.
“It was interesting to work with cotton and to see that it can be used in such a myriad of ways,” said winning designer Priyanka Grover. “It’s easy to get stuck thinking of cotton as a simple fabric, forgetting all the textures and types of fabric available. It was great to be forced to think outside the box and be reminded of what is possible.”
Agnieszka Fijol, Senior Manager (South Asia) for CCI, said, “Cotton has always held a special place in the hearts of the Indian people and I don’t doubt that with the support of such talented designers it will continue to be at the forefront of style and innovation. Success of events such as these is as much about celebrating the emergence of hidden talent as it is about promoting cotton.”
Shrivan Bhatia, winner of Let’s Design Season 1 kicked off the evening with his exclusive cotton beachwear collection. Nine finalists followed him, showcasing three designs each. The contestants then faced their last test as they pulled out the name of a judge who then asked them one final question.
Wowed by the passion and talent on display, the celebrity jury, that included leading luminaries of Indian fashion like Anita Dongre, Neeta Lulla, Krishna Mehta, Swapnil Shinde, Archana Kochhar, Tanya Chaitanya and Shiana NC, renowned photographer Subi Samuel, Agnieszka Fijol, Senior Manager (South Asia) for CCI and Julie Harris from WGSN, had a very difficult decision to make.

Added Sachit Bhatia, Senior Manager Representative (South Asia) for CCI, “We are delighted to present to India the fashion stars of tomorrow, chosen by the fashion icons of today. Today’s event marks a fitting end to a grueling week for the contestants whose nerves and talents were tested repeatedly. In this season’s winners, Priyanka Grover and Munish Soni we see an amazing blend of innovation and versatility with the ability to eventually emerge as an influential force in Indian fashion and hopefully continue to look to cotton in their work.”
Priyanka Grover voted “Best Designer” at the Let’s Design Season 2 fashion contest, could barely contain her excitement. “I am on top of the world, it’s still sinking in,” she said. “The competition was intense, the jury was top-notch and the evaluations were rigorous. I look forward to working with the fashion industry to better my talent while simultaneously promoting the use of cotton.”
The “Best Non-Practicing Designer”, Mayank Soni echoed similar thoughts. “It’s great to know that all that hard work, sleepless nights and not knowing what the next day would bring finally paid off,” he said. This is really the best thing that could have happened to me, it’s a life-changing event. I can barely wait to meet the folks at WGSN and get the best and most holistic perspective on international fashion and trends.”
“I am amazed by the creations that were displayed this evening. It is great that ZoOm is providing this platform to the young talent and being a part of this has been an enjoyable experience.” said designer and jury member Neeta Lulla."
Noted lensman and jury member Subi Samuel said that he was “amazed to see the level of fashion intelligence used by the contestants that also allowed scope for immense experimentation using cotton.” He added, “It’s important to identify, recognise and reward such talent, and I have high regards for CCI that has enabled precisely this.”

Summarizing the evening, designer and jury member, Krishna Mehta said, “What mattered to me was that the garments displayed were all very wearable, were all in cotton, which really is the fabric for all seasons, and were all trendsetters – a critical ‘must have’ when designing a collection.”
Julie Harris from WGSN – the fashion forecast partner for Let’s Design Season 2 and esteemed jury member summed up the evening succinctly when she said, "It is fantastic to see the passion and creativity of the contestants of Lets Design Season 2.
