Champions Trophy 2009 Team India Review

ICC Champions Trophy 2009 is underway and we have got some exciting days ahead with wonderful and breathtaking cricketing action. Here is a Detailed review of the Indian team for Champions trophy 2009.

MS Dhoni
Captain/keeper
Age: 28 years 40 days
Batting: Right-hand bat
Bowling: Right-arm medium.
MS Dhoni needs no introduction and is probably the best one day captain so far. He has brought some kind of good luck charm to the Indian team with his very instinctive and bold decisions. Dhoni's captaincy will hold the Trump Card for India in Champions Trophy 2009

Champions Trophy 2009

Yuvraj Singh

vice-captain
Age: 27 years 247 days
Batting: Left-hand bat
Bowling: Slow left-arm orthodox
Memory of those 6 sixes in 6 balls is still fresh in my mind and I expect Yuvraj Singh to repeat that this time. A lot is at stake and Indian team needs UV to fire on all cylinders as there is vast talent and awesome Firepower in this guy.

Rahul Dravid
Age: 36 years 217 days
Batting: Right-hand bat
Bowling: Right-arm offbreak
The Wall is as solid as it was few years back and will hold the fort for India whenever needed. No point discussing this guys goods or bad as I know that he will come all geared up this time and will show the world What Stuff He is made Off.

Gautam Gambhir

Age: 27 years 306 days
Batting: Left-hand bat
Bowling: Legbreak
The solid opener and cool as cucumber Gautam Gambhir will have to change some tactics this time as Virender Sehwag is not playing. Obviously he will get the awesome company of Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar but we need the other opener to fire as well. Let's see how it rolls out, huge expectations from Gauti.

Harbhajan Singh

Age: 29 years 44 days
Batting: Right-hand bat
Bowling: Right-arm offbreak
Harbhajan Singh "Bhajji" Love Him Hate Him U Simply Cant Ignore him. This guy carries some kind of Aura around him and when needed he comes out with something exceptional. I really like the agression and motivation he provides to the team. I always believed in his all-rounder ability and hoping for some long hits over the boundary in the match against Pakistan (if Needed :-D).

Dinesh Karthik
Age: 24 years 76 days
Batting: Right-hand bat.
Dinesh Karthik will have to so some major startegic decisions to maintain his spot in the team. He has got the potential, no doubt about that but he needs to deliver it in a big way this time. Best of Luck to Karthik.

Praveen Kumar
Age: 22 years 318 days
Playing role: Bowler
Batting: Right-hand bat
Bowling: Right-arm medium
Praveen Kumar has got the uncanny knack of taking wickets at crucial time which will help India with the breakthroughs needed when opposition is developing some major partnership.

Amit Mishra
Age: 26 years 265 days
Batting: Right-hand bat
Bowling: Legbreak
This leggie has got all the weapons in his armoury to carry the legacy of Indian Spin bowling. He needs to finetune his line and lenght as per South African pitches as its very important for a Leg Spinner.

Abhishek Nayar
Age: 25 years 312 days
Batting: Left-hand bat
Bowling: Right-arm medium
This youngster has got a great future and will only improve as he gains experience. He might not get a game in the Champions Trophy 2009 but it will be a great learning experience for him.

Ashish Nehra

Age: 30 years 109 days
Batting: Right-hand bat
Bowling: Left-arm medium-fast
I have never seen such a comeback in Indian cricket. One was by Saurav Ganguly and other one is by Ashish Nehra. This guy has worked hard and rose like a phoenix from ashes. He is in top form and will surely make up for missing Zaheer khan.

Yusuf Pathan

Age: 26 years 272 days
Batting: Right-hand bat
Bowling: Right-arm offbreak
I would definitely like to see Yusuf Pathan doing something really big in this Champions Trophy. A lot is expected out of him and a big hundred is due on him since long.

Suresh Raina
Age: 22 years 262 days
Batting: Left-hand bat
Bowling: Right-arm offbreak
Suresh Raina another overated player who has not delivered the goods since long. Hope he gets his timing right time and contributes to the Team India's winning stats.

Ishant Sharma
Age: 20 years 348 days
Playing role: Bowler
Batting: Right-hand bat
Bowling: Right-arm fast
Ishant Sharma is out of form and needs to get things in place quickly as we are already missing our star strike bowler Zaheer khan. A lot is expected out of him and I hope he delivers his best.

RP Singh
Age: 23 years 253 days
Batting: Right-hand bat
Bowling: Left-arm fast-medium
RP Singh will do good as he has got control over his line and length and his stats are really good in South Africa.

Sachin Tendulkar
Age: 36 years 114 days
Batting: Right-hand bat
Bowling: Right-arm offbreak
Words Cant describe this phenomenal batting maestro and he always delivers when needed. Recently in the Compaq Cup final, the moment he faced his first ball, I knew something big is coming and that hundred won the final for India. The Master Blaster would be the Base of India's performance in Champions Trophy 2009.

Overall Indian Team looks balanced and good without the Likes of Sehwag and Zaheer khan. Still there is huge mountain to climb as India is playing arch rivals Pakistan and Australia in there group. BEST OF LUCK TO TEAM INDIA
