Blue Screen Stop 0x0000007e Stop 0x00000050 KB973879



Recently Microsoft update KB973879 caused Stop 0x0000007e or Stop 0x00000050 Blue Screen error message. The update had a bug in it which caused the blue screen. Please follow the steps mentioned below to resolve this issue.

After you apply update 973879 on a computer that is running an x64-based version of Windows Vista or of Windows Server 2008, you may receive a "Stop 0x0000007e" or "Stop 0x00000050" error message within 10 minutes after system startup.

These are the Steps you need to follow to resolve this issue.

Click on Start(Pearl) icon, and then click Control Panel.
In Control Panel go to the Programs and Features icon and double click on that.
On the Programs and Features window, click on "View Installed updates".
On the list that appears select Windows Update KB973879, and then click Uninstall.
Follow the Onscreen Instructions after that. Restart the system and the issue will be resolved.

Alternatively, you can try system restore as well as per these steps if you are not able to locate the Update: Click on the start(pearl) icon. In the start search box, type system restore. Double click on the System Restore option that appears after that. The system restore window will pop up, follow the onscreen instructions and select a date when system was working fine and proceed with the system restore.
